About us

Calibro [ˈka.li.bro], caliper in Italian, is a design and technology studio that works with data. We chose this name because the caliper is a precise yet manual measuring tool: it embodies the balance between accuracy and interpretation, between numbers and their meaning. This metaphor guides our practice, where data is not just processed but carefully handled, compared, and opened up to new readings.

We collaborate mainly with cultural institutions and researchers, designing and developing digital tools that make data accessible and meaningful. Our projects often take the form of interactive visualizations, platforms for exploration, and custom research software that supports the investigation of archives, collections, and complex datasets.

We value open-source approaches and frequently build tools meant to be shared, adapted, and extended by others. This spirit of openness reflects our belief in research as a collective effort, where technology can serve as an instrument for dialogue and discovery.
